Breast Lift Surgery - Regain Your Shape Of Drooping Breasts Tips

Breast lift surgery, also known as mastopexy, can raise and recontour loose, sagging breasts that have been affected by pregnancy and breastfeeding, massive weight loss, aging and gravity. Many women choose to invest in a breast lift to correct issues of drooping or sagging. If the procedure is performed correctly, the breast will regain a youthful appearance and will look firmer and fuller.

Many women suffer from drooping issues, especially after a pregnancy, weight loss, or after aging. Usually sagging occurs when the skin stretches and looses shape. Many people choose to get a breast lift to regain a perkier, firmer more youthful appearance. Usually the doctor removes the excess skin and replaces the nipple in a higher location. The skin is brought down around the areola, which reshapes the breast.

If you are considering this particular surgery, make sure you research qualified surgeons thoroughly. Make sure the surgeon has years of experience and can provide you with references or before and after pictures. During the consultation, ask many questions so that you feel comfortable with your plastic surgeon and his or her entire staff.

If you have had a history of breast cancer in your family, the surgeon may want you to get a mammogram before and after the surgery to detect changes in the tissue. Following surgery, you should still be able to do a self-examination and usually the surgery will not increase the likelihood of you developing breast cancer.

If you are a smoker, you will be asked to stop smoking well in advance of surgery. You should also stop taking anti-inflammatory drugs which can increase bleeding before the procedure. Aspirin and certain anti-inflammatory drugs can cause increased bleeding, so you should avoid taking these medications for a period of time before surgery.

Your surgeon will provide you with additional preoperative instructions. This procedure is usually performed on an outpatient basis. If this is the case, be sure to arrange for someone to drive you home after surgery and to stay with you at least the first night. Usually the surgery is performed under general anesthetic and usually takes two to four hours.

Generally, the patient can continue normal daily activities with three days but most doctors advise the patient to stay home for seven to ten days. The breast may be swollen and bruised for several weeks and most patients choose to wear a support bra for four to six weeks after the procedure. Risks are usually rare but there could be slight bleeding, scarring, slow wound healing or loss of nipple sensation. You may also have an inability to breast feed. Most scars will remain form months but will gradually fade within a year.

This procedure does not last forever due to the natural affects of pregnancy, aging, and weight loss and gain. The firmness and shape may change over time. Most doctors recommend you to wear a good and supportive bra especially during exercise. Since a breast lift does not change the size of your breast, many women choose to also get augmentation as well.
